The Ox Lodge gets a face lift!

The High Weald Landscape Trust office is based in a 17th century barn at the Beech Estate near Battle. For centuries this barn has served agriculture in a very traditional way. Now that its more practical use as a feed store and animal shelter has been surpassed, could there be a more relevant use for such a building than to accommodate a project such as the Weald Meadows Initiative (WMI) which strives to support traditional land uses? The project specialises in identifying our remaining species rich wildflower meadows and crucially helps others to reinstate these traditional landscapes in the Weald.

The building is being re-clad in like for like weatherboards followed by a coat of black preservative. The final finish should be exactly as before leaving the building to sit comfortably in the landscape well into the future.
